This is most distressing

That though they know the truths and lies,
The wrongs and rights and all the whys,
Still, many cannot change their lives.

That often heads nod in agreement,
For righteous acts but lack commitment,
To carry them through to fulfilment.

That kindness and generosity don’t stay,
Greed and selfishness always win the day,
Common sense and logic don’t lead the way.

This is most distressing.

Will I see you in a park,
When life is gone and all is dark,
The last rites have been made,
Final blessings have been said,
The last bells have been rung,
The last songs have been sung;

Will I see you and your smile,
Even if it's just a while,
Or will you be really gone,
When we are finally done?
Never to meet again?
Never more to feel the pain?

Dare I hope that you and I
Will never say goodbye?
Will I see you on a beach,
Waiting for me within my reach,
And will I have a chance to see,
You once more just for me?

Will we stroll hand in hand,
Cross sunny streams in a distant land,
And kiss again just like before,
Love each other forever more?

I couldn’t hear his soft footsteps,
Though I sensed that he was behind,
Since he seemed very close to me,
I wondered what he had in mind;
I waited till he was too close,
Then I suddenly spun around,
But to my chagrin and surprise,
It was my shadow that I found.

Fierce-looking black bird
Sharp eyes scanning the landscape
Hunger in the air

I’m really extremely sad,

Thinking you’d be free and sage,
But somewhere along the line,
Things did turn out not so fine,
You seem evil through and through,

I remember morning dew,
Bathing the glory flower,  
More dew perched upon the leaves,  
It was an early hour.  

The morning mist, slightly dense,
Hovered lightly in the air,  
I felt its cold and freshness,  
They were present everywhere.  

Birds were stirring in the trees,  
The street lamps were still aglow,  
A dog barked in the distance,  
The pale moon was dimming low.  

I recall this childhood scene,  
Captured at the break of dawn,
I can feel the freshness still,  
Though everything now is gone.

She saw there were black clouds in the sky,  
Opened her umbrella with a sigh,  
But then it did not rain,  
So she closed it again,  
And rushed home while she was still quite dry.

Each day will bring a challenge new,
Yesterday to be left behind,
The squirrel in the back yard knows,
He will have new nutmegs to find;
The pigeon waking on roof top,
Is confident of daily food,
Like them we should wake up thinking -
Today should be so very good.

We must accept that not all of us,
Will always completely agree,
For we are all different and unique.
We are not all parts of the same old tree.
We may sometimes be criticised,
In many thoughts and actions that we do,
But all the decisions that we make,
In our own minds should be true.

A simple hand gesture,
Done in the correct way,
Can replace words and thoughts,
Of what we want to say.

They are tiny people
Living in rainbow lands,
Where time is not counted
by glassy hourly sands;
Life is constantly filled,
with laughter, dance and song,
Throughout the days and nights
and throughout the whole year long

He was never afraid,
To walk the daily paths alone,
He followed what he thought was right,
For his life was his very own.
Of course he could succeed,
Or he could very well just fall,
But he was keenly satisfied,
To overcome alone each wall.
So he was not afraid,
To be different from all the rest,
He knew that all he had to do,
Was for always to do his best.

She was emotionally hurt
but she kept it all inside herself
looking at her, one could never tell
unless one manages to see
those silent teardrops that fell

She was extremely timid
and kept all her emotions hidden
all the sadness within
for weeks and months and years
'til she finally passed away
pitifully freed of all her fears

And still, looking at her
one could never tell, all the
sufferings that she had had
she had no one to confide in
had not even one close friend
so that tiny smile of loneliness
she carried till the very end

With billions of people on this land,
Each person is but a grain of sand;

So alone he lingers sadly on,
With memories too dreadful to bear,
Alone she suffers with wretched thoughts,
No one her burden to really share;

Impotence surrounds, scarce are true friends,
Relief is really found when life ends.

I wave my magic wand,
And Mickey Mouse appears,

And he calmly disappears!

I'm ready for the highlight now,

Flowers, trees and parks
Strolling, playing, and jogging
Green is happiness

The star had shone all night with zest,
And now it’s time for it to rest,
For it is early morn,
Another day is born,
The tired star has done its best.

I like to chatter,
with all my watery friends,
as I stream along;

Sometimes I will sing,
and if you will listen well,

You appeared in my dream last night,

We don't really think much about it,
Although we suffer it all the time,
We are stalked from early morn till night,
Leaving us helpless without a fight,

It's lurking constantly here and there.

A host of sicknesses it will bring,
And this is not just a passing thing,
Our organs, kidneys, lungs and heart,
Will all be struck in whole or in part,
We have to evade stress seriously,
For it's our mortal enemy.

So preventive measures we must take,
Some sacrifices we have to make,
Daily exercises are a must,
Simple healthy moves that you can trust,
Meditation, yoga, you will find,
All of these will leave your stress behind.

Paradise looms ahead of me,
When I reach there, so free I’ll be,
It’s only just a few steps more,
I’m almost at the blooming door.
Gin, whisky, *****, lovelies all,
Waiting for me to have a ball,
So to hell with what’s right and wrong,
Just give me alcohol and song !

The evening owl flew in through the open door,
Came to a skidding halt on newly waxed floor,
It stopped to get its bearings for a little while,
Turning its head around in its owlish style,
Then it flew up to land on top of the chair,
Seeing the welcoming sky from way up there,
So with a farewell hoot it took off again,
And crashed unkindly into the window pane.

Looking upwards towards the heavens,
Hoping to see a shooting star,
Nostalgic moments flashed across my mind,
Of you who were living away so far;

We had moments once upon a time,
And many stars we shared together,
Till our destinies decided otherwise,
And then -
you were gone forever.

Each of us entered this world

There is just as much beauty in silence,
As in the sweetest of sweet sounds,
For in wondrous silence wings the mind,

Incessant dialogues sprouting from talking vain,
Test the patience of the most patient mind,

The sounds of music they all blind;
So amidst the noise and bustle chaotic,

They come to visit us,
In the early hours before dawn,
If you want to see them,

By the dew-covered plants,

Fairies are fragile beauties,
And are not so easy to see;

Most fairies are feminine,
Though male ones do exist,
But they are usually hidden,
In the early morning mist,
And if by chance a fairy,
Should happen to come your way,
You can rest assured,
It will be your lucky day.

"Then why do humans pray to Him?"

"God was really made by early man,
Surely not the other way around,
For mankind needs a super presence,
To maintain a healthy lifestyle sound;

Evil is not made by the devil,
Truly he does not exist at all,
All horrors have always been man-made,
And unchecked will lead to man's downfall;

So man had wisely created God,
With promise of heaven to attain,
For without the threat of punishment,
Evil in this world will spread like rain!"

Then Little Monkey nodded happily,
and continued eating his banana.

Rudolf the famous red-nosed reindeer,
Liked to go to local pubs for beer,
He went with Santa Claus,
And drank without a pause,
Now he can fly fast without fear.

Sammy bought himself a cheap car,
Then found he couldn’t go too far,
Its gas tank was too small,

Now he’s getting drunk in the bar.

Extreme

We can understand
Darkness and light
Two such extremes
Black challenges white

Compromise

We despair, we hope
We ****, we pray

Think in colour grey

Pretty clouds up high
So soft and white and fluffy
Birds are still flying

The **** is crowing
Sun has still not woken up
Snooze a little more

The cell phone was on the table,
Then it was sitting by the bed,
It wandered into the bathroom
Then It was in the store instead,
It went about everywhere,
And then its battery went dead.

I am like a chameleon,
I can change from form to form,
Sometimes I am a haiku,
Or maybe a senryu,
At times a classic sonnet,
Or a funny limerick,
And then I’m a lengthy ode,
(Your patience I won’t erode),
But whatever form I be,
You can always share with me.

Weather getting hot
Shops selling out of swimwear
Seasides getting packed

Tapping ******* pane
Rain trying to get inside
But entry denied

I’d love to fly up to the sky,  
Soaring through all the clouds on high,  
Scrambling the startled water drops,
And soothing snowflakes passing by.    

I’d love to perch on mountain tops,  
And jump and skip and maybe hop,  
From one to two to three or four,
Then flying back again for more.  

I’d love to sit on ocean bed,    
Patting a starfish on its head,  
Playing with pretty mermaids there,  
With their bodies so sweetly bare.  

Why, this would be a witching way,  
To help me through a dreadful day,  
But of course this can never be,  
It’s just another fantasy.

There was once a crooked man,  
Who drove a big brown van,  
Could heave a heavy sack,  
Though he had a crooked back;  

He carried a crooked stick,  
Though he wasn't sick,  
So he could limp in style,  
For many a crooked mile;  

Thus he led a crooked life,  
Together with his wife,  
And it is also true,  
Like him -
She was crooked too.

I am lost,
and more than that,
I have lost everything

I was caught
that morning when I was out
hunting for food nearby
to bring back to my family

I can still hear them cry

I was trapped
with other birds
and transported
to a distant land
and locked up in a cage

with some water and some sand

I am watered and I am fed
but I don't belong here
for my heart is in constant pain
knowing I will never see
never be
with my family again
