Life hovers above us,
it generously gives us energy.
Colors rich, and tactile brilliance it bestows.
Tomorrow,
you and I will still have souls
designed for pleasing one and other,
no matter what pain our flesh endures
through the night.
Do not dwell on the flames of hell,
or the sulfur smell,
it will all flee at first light,
as our love brandishes beams of positivity
in sympathetic unity with the rising sun.
Our fears will run for their feotid caves,
and a kiss will drive them from our thoughts as well.
Through the pale, into the black, until the pale into the bright
I give you the essence of my body to hold you tight,
safe and warm in the cold and lawless night.
Think of me when the walls come closing in
and I will bring us a pair of hammers
and we can break free of these fetters.
Run towards the horizon, hands clasped
free
together.

What you want is what I want,
You knew from the start my heart was cracked
And my love like a cornered animal;
Just as likely to strike
Or play dead,
Claw at the walls
Or eat a pumpkin seed from out of your palm.
What we want
It must count for something,
Beside the fulfilment of what we need.
It is not greed to desire,
And seek fulfillment,
But the microscopic cuts carefully concealed,
They yield ugly harvests
That lose all value on the way to the market.
I want to be the golden armored knight
On the titanium white charger,
But my armor is tarnished silver,
My steed a coal black mare.
Still, in my mind you run,
Free through a painted field,
Each brush stroke a daffodil,
Yellow and white waving at your feet.
You laughed and beckoned,
And I chased you
And caught you.
And we tumbled down the hill
Wrapped up in each other,
Giggling and shouting.

I have this image.
It is enough.
But I want more.

Keep your catastrophes closed,
This rotating orb is far from its last lap.
With stones and sticks, clothed in skins
We survived the extinction of countless species.
There is no indication, no dark premonition
That can reverse reality.

Earth was dust, it is now water,
And it is iron and nitrogen,
Phosphorus and hydrogen,
And it is us, even we bend to her order.

We were molded from the elements,
Latent electricity and infinite energy.
We were not crafted to be an index fossil,
Eliminated by polar shift, or apocalyptic storms.

We Will Endure!

If in one moment I could convey to you
An eternity of my love's affirmation,
if I could plant everblooming flowers
in the places you have lied, fields of wildflowers
formed in the shape of your prone body.

Though far and wide lovers may stray
across the vast horizon running,
trying to catch the day;
our hearts are carrier pigeons
always flying back home to roost with each other.

Why run, I say, saunter,
glide like an eagle,
though you fear you may stumble.
I will send my kiss waltzing to you,
So my lips might dance and twirl with yours.

Venus glowing in the night sky
is still there, though unseen during the day.
So too my love remains
in the depth of night it is a golden sun,
in the glare of day it is a silver moon.

From burning dreams, and nightmares,
flames frozen in the clock face of the mind,
Outside your head is the warmth I carry,
through your open eyes
I project this warmth, as my body in abscence.

When we lie together, let us not speak,
I will listen only to your breathing.
All words will dry up, and we will communicate
only with our bodies. Our minds will bend
towards the singular goal, of pleasing each other.

Another year furls its petals, bedecking the world in orange and red and yellow.

The fresh apples picked and pressed,
the cider scent wafts up,
spectral cinnamon scents this season.

It is futile to delay summers parting,
Even now the kisses at dawn are cooler
The rays less direct the days growing shorter.

But it is a time of sustenance,
Gathered in labors, sustaining stores.
This season of togetherness,
Distinct flavors of allspice and nutmeg,
Pumpkin and sweet potato.
Feast and celebration.

As the living world recedes into the long sleep
I try to forget the hardships endured,
And dwell in the replay of your masterpiece day.
I compared you to various poets,
You laughed demurely,
I did not know how amazing, and precious
You were back then,
Green shoots still grew in my garden.
As autumn approaches absolute dominance
I think of the spring I fell deeply in love with you,
Your charms rained down on everything you touched
And then the sky cracked, and we fled together,
But the diligent one,
The one who knows treachery as the interior of her eyelid
Is tattooed with every manner of trickery,
She is magnificent in her cruelty,
A beautiful creature in her own right,
But a miserable wretch compared to you.
She wanted me, and she ripped me from your hands,
Like when she will rip you from my hands,
And so on until she has what she really wants.
You do not deserve such things.
You deserve more than this universe can provide,
Yet you ask, oh so much less.
Knowing that you will leave me
Is the falling of bright colored leaves.
Five shades of red, three shades of orange,
Mixed and blended yellows,
Exquisite multicolored rain.
My autumn has arrived.

Sedentary currents curl around me,
A cold cloak, of autumn air.
Bare and prone,
I moan in the chilled chamber.

I reach out with my voice,
Sending shouts stumbling down the corridors,
Pleas bracing themselves on the jagged walls.
For a blanket or a warm body, I beg blindly.

A man devoid,
Of charms worthy of mention
Need not grasp hope,
When all he is destined is sorrow.

There are so many others,
Better in every way, fulfilled,
While I waste away.
Never deemed worthy of respect.

Why are my lips never first,
Always the dregs dug up, and laughingly displayed,
To show my low status,
My insignificance and lack of talent.

I just want
A blanket
And
A warm body beside me.

Lightly colored with painted kisses, humming harmonious hymns:
The vital branches of our tree, such strength, unblighted!
Your charity sustains me, the manna of my muse,
Do you feel my fingertips as they glide across your cheek,
My palm on your chin, your eyes upturned they settle and seize my attention.

Stay not your caress, though in between us there may be a veil.
Serpents in the short grass will not strike you as you pass,
I've paid them for your safe passage, come to me, I crave only your touch.

Here, let us only touch each other,
No more is needed now, but skin, and silence,
Let the wind carry away all pains and past sorrows.
With your touch my agonies dissolve
like a sweet treat in a moist mouth.

With confidence I shrug off past limitations,
Celebrations are even now being held in the core of my being.
Your smiling spirit sends sympathetic vibrations when I am away.

Restored are the comforts of past days,
Eiderdown and slow burning sage,
Before I knew your words were ever for me
I fell deeply in love with your melodies.

If I could, in my deepest passion prove the power of your touch
It would mean so much if you could  understand.
Like an assembled host of mighty magicians focused in concert
Your hands work epic miracles, of soothing and creation.

In the course of my rambles
I have stumbled
On sigils and symbols
That have granted me a second sight
And from you I see waves of light,
In mingled colours sharply detailed patterns
Of magnificent artistry,
An aura of delightful pageantry
That reveals your unparraleled self to me.

Entrusted with the formula for happiness,
I share this willingly with the hope you'll see,
All I need to wake each day,
is the nearest hope that we shall spend a moment together,
So in touching, we may impart the many words left unsaid,
The truths that would shatter our lips should we utter them.
