I found a skeleton of a bus
so far into the pines, I knew it had been
dropped from the sky, to save me

they had to be far behind,
the other side of the stream, where those hounds
lost my scent

Jed and Tonto didn’t follow me across
the shallows, and I’d bet all the money I ever stole
those curs and the posse ate them up

there was almost half a moon, though
inside the bus was black; outside was freezing
drizzle pattering on the roof

the coat I filched was soaked
my trousers too--nobody told me
Alabama got this cold

if they had
I wouldn’t have believed them
until that night

I curled up in a ball
behind the driver’s seat, shoved
my frozen hands in my shirt

then I heard that hiss, and saw
those eyes--I stayed quiet, more quiet even
than when I hid from John law

then she growled, deep, slow
but I kept watching her eyes--emerald and still, still
in the place I first saw them

then we were both silent
I’d  *** my drawers before I’d move
freeze outside... get ate inside

the hours passed fast; I drifted,
dreamed a little of being back inside, and woke
when the sun hit the cracked windshield

she was still there
with two cubs nursing, now used to my smell
I suppose, since she didn’t jump

when I slid down the bus stairs
into the frosty grass, where I saw a doe
chewing forbs, close to the roots

lucky the lion had her babes stuck
to her teats, lucky I was between the cat and prey,
lucky the bus was in that grove
Alabama, Jackson County, 1952
the memories
at least those pre - incept date
are presented in shuffle mode
designed to initiate during down time
when heart rate slows
less random and more vivid than human
Roy had no idea
until now
that he could very well be dying
he seemed to be thinking outside the realm
of typical replicant query

why were his dreams ending before completion
his ravenous appetite diminishing
his fixation with the moon now fading

death comes quickly to the replicant
no long suffering illness
many humans must face
the clock stops ticking
and the implants die first
leaving the final few moments
all his, all Roy

were his tears
like his memories
lost in rain
perhaps his most human trait
is revealed in his final moments
the acceptance of death
amid the realization he had lived

A warm and awesome sunny day
In the Southwest town
Of Tucson Arizona
Buy your dreams a dollar down

Kim & me were walking slow
Down Broadway Boulevard
We had a silly argument
And Kim let down her guard

She was just 14 years old
I was sweet sixteen
She was a pretty black girl
In a t-shirt and blue jeans

Our tiff got fairly vocal
We were both strong willed
A predator saw our antics
And moved in for the ****

We fought a bit and then we split
Kim went toward the mall
The monster drove by in his van
Gave Kimberly a call

Foolish girl! She bought his ploy!
He lured and she got IN!
His vehicle was shabby
He was short & thin

I saw the scene as it went down
And though my anger burned
I loved the little miscreant
And I was concerned

So I headed eastward
Towards the way she'd went
I was scared by this time
I wanted to repent

Then all of a sudden
The van! It had come back!
The thin dude called me over
Said his name was Jack

"I saw Kim," the thin man said,
"She is sure upset
She's forgiven you the fight
She wants to forget

She wanted me to let you know
She's waiting in the court
I am a good friend of hers...
C'mon. Let's make this short

This is a pretty busy street
Won't you please get in?
I promise I won't hurt you
I am just a friend"

Well. Though it was snarky
I bought the malarkey
And in that van I slid
I was just a foolish teen
So I did as was bid!

Now. I was in a pretty dress
Of colored floral print
But it was pure. It was demure
It was innocent!

But that scurrilous letcher
Looked me up and down
I was young, but wasn't dumb
His inspection made me frown

"What's that face?" The **** asked
"Won't you come and play?
I have a matress in the back
And come to that I'll pay!"

"YOU'RE NOT FRIEND OF KIMBERLY'S!!!
THAT WAS A BIG FAT LIE!!
COME NEAR ME, SKINNY MONSTER,
AND I'LL BOP YOU TO THE SKY!!!"

Well. That was a big mistake
He got furiously mad
I didn't know how mean he was
I didn't see how bad...

I didn't know he'd prowled the town
That he'd no regard for life
It should have come as no surprise
When he pulled a KNIFE!!!

He said, "Well now, pretty thing,
You'd best sing a new note.
You ain't tough. I've had enough!
I may just slit your throat!

Now. Believe me if you want to.
Disbelieve or not.
I was strong... and I got calm.
Gave the situation thought...

He thought I'd be frightened.
He thought I would cry.
But I had God's hand upon me
As I looked him in the eye

"I'll do what you want, friend,
Yep. I been around.
I'll do whatever you may want,
Just put that **** knife DOWN.

Shaking with desire
The creep was spineless squid
He looked me up and down again
And did as he was bid!!!

Now, the handle of the door
Was broken off inside
But the window wing was open
Yep... the wing was open wide!

He'd set the knife between us
I had no time to think
I grabbed that knife and threw it out!
Quicker than a wink!

A comedic look of Horror
Spread over that man's face
I looked him in the eyes again
I gave that man no Grace!

He thought I would just slap him
But I did this instead
I turned my back onto the door
And KICKED HIM IN THE HEAD!!!

"Now we are on even terms!!!"
I screamed with all my might!!!
" I dated a black belt...
AND I KNOW HOW TO FIGHT!!!"

I'll bet that man was wondering
How it all began
He knew I didn't mess around
And in the end he RAN!!!

I got out his side of the van
I tell you no lie
As I walked towards the mall
I broke down and cried!

A sweet elderly couple
Had heard me and my screams
They helped me to a phonebooth
And soothed me in their arms

The police came very quickly
And they were sure impressed
They said they'd been looking for the guy
But they had no address

I'd taken down his license plate
After I broke his chops
I pulled it out of my small purse
And gave it to the cops

They said I was a hero
To have it end that way
Then there were reporters
It was in the Star the next day.

How a little teenager
Had beaten an armed man
They apprehended the miscreant
I guess that's out his plan

You may find this incredible.
You may find this odd.
My courage had a higher source

a great and loving GOD.

This is a true story. It made the paper the next day. Arizona Daily Star in 1973. They chided me about getting in that van. But the way I got out of the situation by the seat of my pants and my wits impressed them. Don't be afraid to fight! But use your head first!

Kimberly had gotten out of the situation unscathed also... At that point he had left the window the van open and she jumped out of it! LOL!

Thanks for reading this long story. And always remember, if you are a teenager (and even if you're not), to be very wary of strangers. This internet can also harbor horrible people. So BE CAREFUL!

goal of common
decency and rights
for all mankind • steps
orderly and without guile
the narrow way is difficult
it seems like many miles before
another human soul is even seen
the encounter strengthens the weary
the way is narrow • but it is God's way
the path doesn't wind or wend • it is very
straight • but because of this there's hardly
distraction from the importance of the goal

"because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, that leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
Matthew 7:14

The shape indicates the road starts out very very narrow but with time and patience gets broader and broader. Just as conversely the broad Road is wide and welcoming it first but it becomes narrower and narrower and narrower. I've tried both ways and I found that to be true!

Freedom and life are of the

Flabbergasted at my findings
Drooling slightly over luck
Hard to explain how my life has changed
Now the proud owner of a Whatchamacallit

It came with all the accessories
All the whistles plus the bells
Lucky I grabbed it when I did
You know how fast those things fly off the shelf

Double wrapped in heavy plastic
Sealed up tight for safeties sake
To keep from the hands of those not in the know
Plus less chance of escape

Though Whatchamacallit's aren't dangerous
They are mischievous all the same
Far be it for me to set mine free
And be the one to blame

So I keep it on a leash
Everytime that I go out
Even put it in my pocket
If I'm roaming a big crowd

But believe you me if it's me you see
Out someday on the street
I have my Whatchamacallit
Somewhere close to me

Is it true what the scientists say
That life on earth will end one day?

I guess that they are probably right
There'll be no day, there'll be no night

The ozone layer is full of holes
Rising temperatures melting ice floes

Will we perish in enormous Floods?
The thought of it just chills the blood

Or will earthquakes bury us out of sight
Will fire devour us without a fight?

Storm and tempest, some folk say
Will make us kneel in final prayer

The forecast? Now  I'll give you mine:
It will end in two thousand and seventy nine

Every year as a child
We'd go down to the mall
Spread blankets on the new mown grass
And watch the fires fall
The display was not a large one
For Tucson was quite small
But on my father's shoulders
And I felt Ten Feet Tall!

At dusk the fireworks began
With blasts... staccato pops!
We'd watch with awe the sparklers
That would, as fat sparks, drop!
It would get brighter and brighter still!
It never seemed to stop!

The oohs and aahs of the crowd!
The smell of grass fresh cut!
Looking up! Exploding embers!
My eyes never shut!

At last! The finale!
What a fireworks display!
We were tired at the end...

.... but it was a PERFECT DAY!

I have nothing but happy memories the 4th of July. The state of the nation now saddens me. But for me this will always be a wonderful day!

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

*I’ve not the time nor moments free
to flail about in wayward flow
Or dance the streets in cobbled glee
with steps that I no longer know

To walk among the falling leaves
in colors painted autumn past
or sail about the seven seas
from ports o’ call yon ships are cast

Traverse a mountain born of stone
along a pathway’s winding spill
of jagged berth in footprint shown
I’ve not the strength, nor I the will

To paint a fence of acres far
where cattle graze on sunny fields
or stare upon an evening star
enchanted by the light it yields

For every minute I can find
is spent in endless thoughts of you
To swirl about my focused mind
and every other point of view

To use the ink within my pen
and write the words I’m thinking of
In fine poetic verse I send
my promised and undying love

So please excuse this horrid mess
as others chose to bother me
They do not hear what I profess
I’ve not the time nor moments free
