Statue Of Unity
Sun rolls down
Weaves a multicoloured carpet
Fades away in the fringes
It’s dark

Towering
Amused
Being placed
At such a height
Overlooking the majestic Sarovar Dam
Musing at the distant past
Hands by the sides
Never forgotten
The Iron Man
For the world to see
Statue of unity

Kodaikanal
The roads long
taper on the end

A memory, unfolds
at every bend

Exotic trees, and
Silver cascade falls

Misty mountain peaks
Lotus in the lake

Lush multicoloured flowers
At the Bryant Park

Horses to  ride
Pink candy floss

Kodaikanal - ‘The Gift of the forest’
As it’s rightly known
Kodaikanal is a hill station,
in Tamil Nadu, a state in South India

This was supposed to be a haiku, I usually never tag them, the second line was short of one syllable, added the word ‘sweet’

Beating Hearts
Whispered softly
Heard clearly
By the loved ones
Silence unspoken
Familial or familiar
It’s the beating hearts
Over the distance
Together In silence
After a long time spoke with my  friend,
she and I were closest friends:)
We live in different time zones now,

Memories
It’s been years
The  memories in the heart fresh
forever cherished and etched
Of the days when we were young responsibilities were less and being a student was fun
Friends always a phone call
Or a few doors away
When the days and evenings were carefree
Breakfast lunch dinner
Not the job to be done
Gone are the days for all
Not just for one
But isn’t that life
Change and Growth
It still shines the same in my hometown
though
And of its fondness
I can never outgrow

Listen
Being quiet
Is not quite, quiet
Thoughts aloud
Listening to self

The little ants
Quiet to our ears
Synchronised foot steps
Raising a food ball

Quite lay the balloon
Inflated, all ballooning
A *****, burst into pieces
And the shrillest cry

All quite, quiet
Until awoken, shaken
The inner being

Simply try
Winning and Losing
Are moments
Sometimes
Just moments apart

Trying are the times
And try we must
To put in our best efforts

Failures
Lures one, for more trials
And a desire to reach goals
Success

Dark Leaves
Unearthly hours
Cool breeze makes it beautiful
Green leaves glow and softly shine
Under the streetlight fluorescent white
Grey clouds and the crescent moon
Hum along with the tender leaves
They shimmer and shine, bend and sway gracefully in every way
Shadows on the pavement and the white plastered walls as the leaves softly dance
A beauty in the dark

Happy Diwali - 2019

The Sun, misses shining bright in the clouds
Mellow, it smiles with the balmy breeze

Rain has been dancing for long in the whole town

Stars can’t shine in the night sky
The rain does its favourite ‘Tandav dance’

They never seem to be out of harmony

The  earth, wet and damp
Mother Nature teaches us to accept and walk towards happiness, nevertheless

Light up the earthen lamp and hoist the lantern in the cloudy sky
The stars underneath  brim with golden smiles

Diwali is the magical time to spend with the loved ones and feel blessed
To enjoy the festivities with spirits up and bright

Happy Diwali

Words Alive
Long long ago, i used to think
Words hung on the trees,
along with the leaves
To handpick them and use, as and when
easy, it would be

Drenched in the storms of my anger
The words grew bitter and brittle
The winds blew away the right ones
Harder i tried, farther they flew
Left with few and later none
Lost I did feel, with not a word
that could heal

Rooted in me
The words
They were always there
Took me a while
To finally find

Weathering all storms
Calming the seas
Bearing the fruits
The words alive
Sweetened and pruned
To anger, immune
Very old thoughts, found words, alive

Rain rain go away
It’s October
And, you are still here
You can’t always love
What you love

Pack your clouds, retreat
There is a time and place
You have rained, pretty
And showed us the rainbow too

Let winter take over
I so love her too
It’s beautiful and has lovely grace

Soon, we are to welcome Diwali
Light  up the diyas and wear festive dress
Decorate the yards with colourful rangoli
We need pleasant weather and light breeze

Rain rain go away
Please, pack your clouds, retreat
There is a time and place
You have over stayed
See you again, next year
A plea!!

Soul Purpose

The good and the bad, we have it all

Riddled by insecurities, the good escapes

The mask of duplicity, beguiles the stray

Lacking in empathy, losing every way

Sheer, is the veil of the soul, free flowing

Embellished with the goodness of love

Let it shine & let it glow

Be at peace

Never let it go

Chony and Mony
Chony and Mony
Butterflies, yellow and blue
Loved flowers in hues

Of the two brothers
Chony, naughty and witty
Mony, naive with innocent charm

Living every moment
Flitting and sipping
Listening to the garden song

Changing colours
A chameleon in wait
The brothers knew its taste

As it rested its colour to blue
Chony knew it right away
Momma had taught to flit past that hue

Held Mony by it’s wing
Mony knew it was a danger sign
Opposite direction, was the call

The hungry chameleon
Rolled its eyes, surmised
Time to call it a day

Hope & Faith
Making ripples in the pond
Swimming in the shallows
Swept off by the waves, into the deep sea
and back to the shore
Buoyant forces keep afloat
Hope is the float
Takes you deep, into the shallows and back to the shore
Soaring high into the skies
Float into the zero gravity door
Back to the ground
On two feet
Undying faith in self
Unleashed

Lost, never around
To be found
Jumping signals in my mind
Just for fun

Apple and The Lake
The apple looks down from the treetop
Marvels at the beauty of the lake which flows beside its home, the apple tree.

‘Oh how wonderful it must be to take a dip in the pristine lake and come out sparkling clean’

The lake charmed by the red delicious  apple, wondered

‘How blessed the humans must be to eat and cherish every bite of the juicy apple, sweet!’

Thoughts of the pristine lake and the apple sweet
Unheard by the deer, prancing under the tree
Star BG : Apr 2
Looked at your picture and out this came. :)

Two apples sat on window cil. Both taking in the beautiful scenery. Both using their scent to attract nostril canals to wet an appetite. Both reminding of the concept to share and take in the scenery.

Many days

Never alone, lost, too shy
The words jingle jangle

Many days

Drift
Many emotions
Lack of solutions
The hurt and pain
Caused by you or to you
Shrouded in mystery
The pain never alone
Whom to please
Yourself or others?
What’s understood
And not
It’s no more important
Leaf out of the crowd
To the lake, a breath of fresh air
Is all it takes
To ease out the nerves
Drift  to a place of calm
peace and solitude
Within
And around
Just writing away

Nothing New
Perfection is being content in ones own world

Perfection is perceiving the cracks in the wall as a piece of art
Withered autumnal branches
Dreaming of blooms in spring

Perfection sought, to please the world
Leaves one imperfect and discontented
In this, perception oriented perfect world
Last monsoons the Champak tree
Was all abloom
The breeze lightly swayed the branches
The heady fragrance wafted through the air

The monsoon showers
this year
Wilted away the flowers
too soon

Less is more, I do believe
As the blooms wilted away too soon
Now the tree laden with fruits, ripe and red
Inviting birds of many species
Mornings are especially beautiful
Waking up to chirps and tweets
Of many a mynahs, bulbuls and
purple-yellow sunbirds

This morning as I watched them feast
To my surprise
There was, Indian grey hornbill
Beautiful and majestic as it can be
