Smell the rain
Before you see
Then the sound
Before you see

Realize what it means

And the damp air is summer
It holds much more than I thought
And I am struck
By the beauty

Like a pinch to the cheek

The promises that this summer holds
Are romantic
And earnest
And so sweet and almost there

It calls to me
To claim my days
And grip the rains
Hi, I'm new here and I'm looking to improve. This was just something I kind of scribbled down today, I'm putting it up to try out the site. If anybody can recommend any great poets/poems I should read for learning purposes let me know! And Hello to all, it's great to meet you!
I am a candle.

My flame is small. It provides no warmth, and just enough light. But it takes only a little bit to get me started. Once I am lit, I will burn for a long while. I may not have much to give, but I will give it all, until I'm just a puddle of spent wax.

I can't endure much. I will follow you, but only if you carry me. I will weather the wind, but only if you shield me. I'll be your hope, your light, your shining star.

I am a candle.

When nothing is right,
When you fall because you are too scared of the height.
When wrong thinks you are bait,
When the people you need become people you hate.
When he holds you too close for comfort,
When you try to be strong though you are hurt.
When you are forced to care,
When daddy isn't there.
When you feel all ******* & bound;
When your heart just pounds and pounds,
When the tears come streaming down.
When mommy is too scarred to be rational,
When you wish you were supernatural .
When the chalk becomes a sword,
When your body becomes the board.
When your thoughts are spacebound,
When your voice is never loud.
When you are just a toy on a shelf,
You can't help but want to free yourself.

Hi.
Something different
Something sudden
I was caught by surprise
By those, oh so stunning eyes
I said hi
You said hello.
My little kitty
Vowing to forever stand by me
As friend, maybe more
Kitty, thank you for caring about me
Maybe you can help me see
For the second first time
Help me pick up the pieces of my mind
As you so vowed to do
Because you know the hurt
And you could desert
But, I'm just guarded and scared
My heart is just tired
And it's me you want to admire
It's just such a crazy notion
That some of your beauty and style
Might notice little old me
With the pudge and the baggage
But, here you are patiently waiting
And helping me pick up the pieces of my life
Maybe one day I could call you my wife
One meeting could make a lifetime
Some things I can't help but take as a sign
But, only time will let us see
I was just so surprised
When you said hello
And I said hi.
I drank coffee
you drank tea

I sat in the corner
you tried to sit next to me

I said "leave it alone"
you said "make it free"

we were opposites
yet meant to be
I like to ramble and I like to write in all caps whenever I'm tired
I like to sing and I like to dance but neither of those traits were really admired.
I like to compete and I like to achieve but lately I've been losing
I like to pretend and I like to cry, it's just the path that I'm choosing.

I like to love people and I like to be loved right back
I like to have security and I like that my friends keep my life on track.
I like to make decisions but I'm probably the most indecisive person ever.
I like to be busy but the way I plan some things just isn't very clever.

I like to write and I like to revise and lately that's what I've been doing
I like to study and I like to remember and yes it's a full plate that I'm chewing.
I like to eat healthy but I always end up eating way too much.
I like to have friends but sometimes I decide not to keep in touch.

I like that I'm single  but sometimes it'd be entertaining to have a lover
I like searching for nothing in particular, because there's so many things to discover.
I like to talk and I like to think but I usually end up annoying myself
I like the idea that my life could be an interesting story on somebody's book shelf.
Well, now you know a lot about me.
