An observer of life
You notice
The small native flowers
Sprouting by the roadside
The skink sun baking on the rock
At parties
You find a group in animated conversation
Hover at its edges
Nod, smile
Appearing to join in
No keeper of small talk
Watching
Taking it all in
Making a mental note
Of snippets worth bottling
A discoverer of ideas
For words to come together
Later
In a dance
Within the privacy of your own pen
Silently you turn them into
A melody
Into poetry
For poets

Bury my hands in your warm embrace
plant my love
in the soils of your labyrinth
my garden of earthly delights
Fly into my heart
my summer love
all red, and green and feathers
my fruits to you surrender
Autumn skies kiss my lips
gifts of plenty
bequeathed from the land
come, share my bounty
Satisfy my appetites
and I will leave you here
to breathe again
surrendered to the night

Looking at you
Looking at me
Wondering if
It could ever be
RL Smith Jan 2014
One night of anonymous loving
You don't remember his name
One night of love and adventure
Playing the singles game
One night to end all others
You will never be the same
No more loving for you now
No one for you to blame
Your body slowly dying
Your mind being driven insane
One night of anonymous loving
Was it worth it for the pain?

Like a meme of activism
This women's coalition
Mothers
Sister
Friends
Pioneers and heroines
There's courage in their convictions
A guild of collectivism
They hold luncheons in their kitchens
Talk of abolition
Mysticism
Feminism
Of heroes and magnetism
Seduction
Love
Eroticism
They scream like banshees at a crucifixion
About injustice
Dereliction
Terrorism
A tradition underwritten
With symbolism
Drums
Violins
Musicians
They may be sitting
They may be knitting
Baking muffins
Folding linen
Running errands
Stuffing chickens
A juxtaposition to their ambition
Of inspiring the unwilling
Turning derision to optimism
Their fire and brimstone
Will have history rewritten
Freedom of reproduction
Liberalism
Animism
They have wisdom
Intuition
Rhythm
They are fearsome
This women's coalition

I heard the sounds of love
Drip
Like warm honey
From your lips
But when I listened closely
I realised
They couldn't melt
The ice surrounds
Of your heart

The man on the moon died today
Whilst trying to chase the stars away
The old woman has lost her shoe
And is wondering now, what to do
The worlds gone mad in this generation
But nobody understands the great sensation
As Noah's Ark begins to sink
He just poured himself another drink
Silliness and nonsense
