From the red clay . From dusted afternoons
From silly giggling holding hands
The universe moves into

The sunshine, the star's mind
An aged memory
Recollections faint with rust
My fingertips just to reach

From moments warm with flesh
From breath I give for free
Night alights her as a crown
Amen ***, my God is thee

“Ever look up pronunciations?”

Stripped of their fleshy chests, words are
just bones and gristle threading teeth that eat them.
Feel time, in its natural twilight, run over the words until
they are just beads at the bottom of a good sleep which
is all childhood is anyway.
Why you had superpowers and different worlds
and falls and bee stings didn’t hurt,

not really /ˈrē(ə)lē/

The ravaged ribcage,
That ghoul beneath the peeling stage,
Gravity-bent bone, harpsichord racks
We stack with swollen amber sacs
Of vibrato beats seething with the heat of friction
From my race through an historical fiction
(Of  forged tax collector receipts
And hospital records of symptoms and disease)
I crave release,
I stand on the rim of sleep
and dare myself to leap.

Writer's Block
Robert C Ellis Apr 2018
The demons’ decibel blocks situate at every opening to sunlight,
Every sliver of a mirror to the outer reaches
Of my fear of falling into the blue of sky
Past air, past God.  Into the …

Laze are the demons for gravity comes with ease
Stumbling until their blocks stifle every eve.

My grandmother does not want us to succeed.
She was but good at breeding
For we are here and we seethe

Every Bible verse rhymes with Sanctuary
The hum drum of music mimics the heartbeat
In case we forget, or we grieve Memory

She rises in a body I can’t forget, I crave; I tease.

A hotel room overlooking a Louisianan Oil Refinery
A city of stacks burning hydrocracked gasoline
The lights reflecting the constellations above; eternity
She cradles my delusions in this nursery

A nectar symphony created this forest for you and me
The way that Time uses eternity
Like a wind by which our creator we see
Words that are crafted meaningfully
They rhyme with love and sing our history

They call from the trees and they breed
They dive from the sky and touch the sun
We wait from the wings for their poetry
They are our hearts in our Harmony

This is our world, our years they breathe
They nurture with hands held delicately
Your hopes and my desires, hymns of matrimony
We are the love of which Gods dream

Let the wind catch the lungs
let the moonlight glisten
air sacs with silvery resin
fallen from the spoken words of god
huddling stars against oblivion
let the daring angels contemplate
demon dares in **** and rake
over the gliding embers of whiskey-soaked sunsets I regret.
Let my body by hers be my only poetry daring ,
daring my soul to breathe outside this tomb of childhood dragging marks across school linoleum
and university stares I dared to slip between everyone's
words after I heard that this world is loosened from reality.
That the only gravity are the legends we repeat.
