If hers is a long and lonely climb
Atop her distant perch,
His then was a lengthy trek
Across the endless earth.
Inspired by sunshine and Nickelcreek. Always means always.

My life is a spiral of debt and despair
The pressure upon me is too much to bear
So I sit in my bedsit surrounded by bills
In one hand a bottle, the other, some pills
And I think to myself, has it really come to "this"?

I cant live with the shame of the things that occured
It was not meant to happen, I give you my word
Now I stand on the cliff and look down at the sea
And it feels like the only way out for me
And I think to myself, how did it ever come to "this"?

I once had a job and life was so sweet
Then it all went wrong and now I live on the street
I've fallen so far that I beg with a cup
My life is worth nothing, nothing to give up
And I think to myself, how can I carry on like "this"?

Think not of the why or the hows or the pain
There are people to help you start over again
There are friends out there that you've yet to meet
Who's purpose in life to give you new feet
To stand on your own and start over again
just so that you know "this" is not how it ends

I'm the kind of girl who remembers the first day I met you.
But forgets where I placed my phone two minutes prior.

The girl who sees the sadness you hide behind your smiles,
but takes ten minutes to finally see the can of green beans in front of her.

The girl who smiles at people who've hurt her.
And say's, "I'm fine" when I'm not.

I may never be the smartest in the room.
Nor the prettiest in the group.
I might never be the funniest.
Or the one that always has everything figured out.
But I can guarantee this:
I will always love.
I will always smile at strangers,
and listen to those who need to be heard.
I will always be respectful to everyone,
despite our differences of opinions.
And I will always be kind.
This, this I promise.

I fell in love with dancing,
when you showed me it was about more than just the steps.

It's your head,
your heart,
and everything in between.
And that, my friend,
is what poetry should be.

The wind was a melody I leaned to hear as a child.
But as I grew, it's tune became fuzzy.
Then nonexistent.

Once, the dead dandelion's were wishes.
But then they became weeds.
And a nuisance.

Puddles were small playgrounds sent down to bring me joy.
But then they were just mud and water.
Something *****. Something to avoid.

I could no longer hear the music on the air,
Nor did I look longingly at patches of dandelion's.
And puddles were just... well, puddles.

I no longer found joy in the small things.
And that, I believe, is why there is so many sad people today.
We all forgot what it was like to love life.

A father looks deeply
into the eyes of his son,
He speaks soft and sweetly:
  "Child, my days are done."

"I've loved every moment
From the day that we met.
The day of your birth,
  And I'll never forget,
You told me you loved me
  Without using words,
I gave you my heart
And you gave me the earth.

"And though my life's ending,
   I want you to know,
This is the beginning,
  Of life on your own.
So hear me right now,
   With these final breaths,
And I'll tell you how,
   Your life shall be blessed:

Sing with the water,
  Dance with the bees;
Travel the world,
  And sail on the seas.
Learn to enjoy
  The moments you have;
For now is eternal,
  Yet time moves so fast.

"Learn to love,
  And love to learn;
Light your passion,
  And let it burn.
Reach someone,
  Touch longing lives;
We are all one,
  Together we fight.

"Let go of hurt,
  Learn to forgive,
Understand others,
  We're all new at this.
One day you'll see,
  You'll blink and wake up;
And then you will teach
  Your son to grow up.
