There is a monster living in my mirror
Be careful
Look away
You are not allowed to see

I approach it carefully
But I have to see
To make sure it's still there
Not coming after me

I have to remember its face
Just in case
I should see it elsewhere

I glance in my mirror
And it begins to scream
And scream
Awful things at me

I look away plug my ears
Trying not to hear
But it's got into my mind
Not just my ears
Or my mirror

mark john junor
her smile was
worn down by the road
and it seemed to her nothing could
lift her spirit
nothing could lift the storm from her brow

and you can feel the soft leather of his boot echo on down the hall
as he steps into the story
and there no joy to be had
there's no place to hide from this face of you

she had thought to
escape into the vast desert of the pages of history
lost to track or trace but
she knew someone would come for her
like a derelict pantomime of a gunslinger
both barrels hot to the touch cold to the eye

he came in to the busy room
and caught her eye
like a morning dove catching the first ray of sunlight
beautiful was the moment in her heart
beautiful in her mind
he was slick and neatly appointed from
his dark brown hat dipped to cover one dark eye
to his boots of spanish leather
that made a hollow sound in the sudden silence

a hush had fallen on the awed gathering
they had heard of men like him
coming up north out the wild country
coming up looking for fortune and fame
with the gun and the deck of cards
but they had never seen such a creature up close
and you could smell the fear
in every man
but you could taste the barely muted desires
in every woman there

the next day at the break of day
she lay with him
a gentle place in her heart had opened
she felt hope
she felt a coolness in the hot breeze
a rose had grown and there was no denying it
like a force of nature
like a tower never breached

and so it lay
a rose so sweet
on the breaker of the changing tides
waiting for sunrise
laying with one of the wolves
she had changed him
woman is a force of nature
that no man can understand
and no man can resist
Obsidian-eater tells no fables,
Cloud-breather tells no facts,
and upon the Shady Mountain
you must memorize your tracks.
Safe shelter will elude you here.
Your mind will not know rest,
and every thought you held so dear
will be challenged with this test.

Rise up to the jagged summit
to view the landscape covered in tar.
The countryside has been corrupted
from sailing too close to the vile Null-Star.
Now sits a lake of umbral murk
where once were valleys ****** to vex.
This is truly the contrast of beauty;
Memories of life left only as specks.

Below the surface, in deep slumber,
the planet's heart beats in the core.
It knows not of your hardships,
just what it has in store.
A planetary cleansing
to wash away this putrid sin,
and upon this Shady Mountain
is where it will begin.

The New Kestrel
My skin is hot.
I can feel it.

But my bones are cold.

Shivers are sent down my spine
And I know I am shaking.

The only thing I can think of is
You.
Your scent
Your energy
Your touch
Your voice
Lingers around me and dances with my senses.
I am burning for you,
But I feel cold.

Distracted by my dreary contemplation
Putting suicide under the light of consideration
I'd find a way for my spirit to give you justification
Of why I needed to go

Each day it feels like death's seducing my
Soul, but would it be a sin to comply
Why try to resist and let my needs be denied
Maybe I just need to let go

Is our love great enough to still be as strong when left a memory
The depression in my heart has reached its full capacity
I tried, I swear, but I can't reach the state of being happy
So promise you will let go
