Over the river
And through Grant Woods
Through Hallmark scenes we go.
Through colors of white
That are not quite right
Not even for ******-on snow.

If Currier and Ives
Tends to give you the hives
You really might not want to go.
By now we have cars
And thank your stars
No shoes for the horse to throw.

Old men in jeans
In bucolic scenes
From a hundred years ago.
Don’t be in a rush
As driving through slush
Can cause accidents, you know.

Turkey and dressing
And Parker rolls
May suit the day just fine,
But a warning here
I’ll make it clear
You might not like mulled wine.

When you have eaten
While women work
The men can go off and drink.
The men getting *******
A seasonal disgrace,
The gals keep their minds on the sink.

Later while driving back ,
The men passed out,
The women behind the wheel.
They women all try
To figure out why
They go through this yearly ordeal.
(Yes, folks. This is yet another one of my infamous Iconoclastic Christmas Carols.)
Passion!

For a time,
For a place,
For a people,

Love for times past,
A time of princesses and queens,
The time the last Princess of a great Dynasty, lived.

Passion for a place.
A place of ancient times,
A place of wars and devastation,

A place of dreams,
A place of creating new things,
A place of courage and respect,

Passion for a people,
A people who have written many words about life and love,
A people who passed along songs for thousands of years,

A people who have never given up on their dreams,
A people who never have surrendered,

A passion
For another place and time,
A place in the distant past,
A place in the future,

When love unites,
A great people once again.

Hearing echoes of bells,
Hearing echoes of  **, **, **,

What is that yummy smell?

Smells of yummy apple and cinnamon cookies,
Mom is baking to fill Santa's tummy with goodies,

I see,
Brilliant flashing lights covering a pine tree,
In the twilight, we feast on cookies and tea,
Puppy dogs begging for treats,

Dad drinking Eggnog, playing with trains,

Come on kids,
Let's get to bed,

Mom don't forget to put goodies out for Santa.

Tonight, we'll dream of flying rain deer.
Toys carried by a holly, jolly fat man,

What is that I hear on the roof?

Hearing echoes of bells,
Hearing echos of  **, **, **,

It must be Santa and his slay.

Yay!

A small single apartment
That is all I really need.
The result of low ambition
And a paucity of greed.
A kitchen for cooking
A comfy place to sleep
Just great for meditation for
Thoughts that don’t go deep.

It was close to my buddies
That good old gang of mine
I go there, they come here,
As long as there was wine.
I was serving jug wine
And vintage it was not.
I had to switch to *** when
My stomach started to rot.

I also served cheap beer,
The cheapest I could find.
Between the wine and beer
It’s lucky today I’m not blind.
And food was also frugal
Mostly chips and salsa hot.
Stoners aren’t that choosy.
Gourmands we were not.

Of course we all had our own
Personal marijuana stash.
Its quality depended on
The amount of available cash.
But one of us was a dealer
Or sometimes there were two.
They always brought a supply
To sell, that’s what they do.

We laughed and roared and
Someone always had a guitar
It is nineteen seventy two
And that’s how conditions are.
Some of us had jobs back then
But most were floating around.
It’s hard to be a stable soul
With no feet on the ground.

Jingle, jingle, Mr. Kringle
Please drop by my house.
Don’t miss it like you did last year
Don’t be that seasonal louse
That brought cheesy kinds of toys
From the local dollar store
We shopped there all the time
So we had seen them before.

I don’t want to sound ungrateful
But Action Tommy is not the same
As GI Joe. Between the two there’s
More difference than the name.
And Lego blocks fit together
To build some amazing things
Those copycat toys from Taiwan
Do not build much of anything.

Jingle, Jingle, Mr. Kringle
If you are real, please heed.
None of those toys and junk
Is really what we need.
It would be better if you could
Bring a job for my poor Dad.
Make it better than minimum, like
The one he most recently had.

And maybe a raise for Mom
Who works a full time job too.
Would a dollar an hour be such
An earth-shaking thing to see to?
So, just in general, Kringle dude,
If it wouldn’t make you awful mad
Could you twitch your nose and
Make this Christmas not be sad?
