Poetry is
An echo
Asking a shadow
To  dance

Secure within the mother’s womb.
Sheltered from all storms of life.
Swimming,
Swiveling,
and
Sustained.

The countdown begun-

A wide world awaiting,
Eager faces looking,
Windows opening,

to
Colour,
Scent,
Sound,
Taste and Touch.

But,
Expectations shattered,
Exasperation heightened,
Execution begun,
Excruciation settled,
and
Expulsion confirmed!

Chopped to pieces,
Down to trash.
‘The most unkindest cut of all’!

Betrayal!
Horrid Betrayal!

Through eons,
History repeats.
‘Am I my brother’s keeper’?
The Son of Man –
sold out,
with a kiss.
Et tu, Brute!
Nipped in the bud.... ! How many such cries die out unheard !!!
When a mother's womb turns the slaughter house, it is the bitterest betrayal !!

Because nothing ever ends in poetry
It ends in blood and tears
We make it poetry.

It ends painfully
Painstakingly.

But we turn it into beautiful melodic words
Turn it upside down,
Spin it around,
Wrap it beautifully
While we sit in suffering.
Hoping that our pretty little words
Cover up scars and wounds
Hopefully heals something we thought never would.

South-by-Southwest
At seven ,
I rode a bicycle
with over inflated tires
that burst in the dark
thumping hard the side
of the house
scaring us all

At eleven ,
I went to three
different elementaries
in two states ,
one fall ,
two winter ,
three spring

When thirteen ,
I had a home
with no roof
or walls and slept
under the wiles of
mother moon

Then at fourteen ,
at fifteen ,
and sixteen ,
I went to high school
in a house made
out of cards
The jokers ran wild

At seventeen ,
I moved on
moved out
and like an orphan
I was sponsored
without love
as a rock singing
"I Am A Rock"

" 'I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
   Hiding in my room
   Safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me
   I am a rock
   I am an island

And a rock feels no pain
   And a rock never cries ' "
Words in quotes by Simon and Garfunkel , "I am a rock" from the Sounds of Silence record , 1966 .

Jealousy is a curse,
There's no curse
that is worse.

Lying is a disease,
There's no cure -
This, I'm sure!
