some twenty years ago
my sister and her daughter
saw a UFO
This haiku is based on an actual event... My sister and her daughter were traveling home from a near by town at around 8:00 pm and a strange object hovered over their car as they were motoring along the road. It hovered for around two or so minutes and then shot off towards the west at a rapid speed.

you died
i tried to
         i wish i did
dying is easier
than this pain
          of living
I'm a reformed man
my habit has been cast out
a good woman
showed me how to bring it about

with her understanding ways
she helped me give up the grog
and life is so much better
now that I'm no longer in a grog fog

on the path back to sobriety
her hand guided me
with its never ending
patience and solidity

she is a redemptive angel
in my eyes
she gave me reason
to see a clean sunrise

the grog couldn't stay
in my addled life
cause it had imparted
much too much strife

for the rest of my days
I'll be a reborn man
for a wonderful woman
took hold of my hand

her love and care
showed me how to kick the grog
and she has lead me
out of it's fog
a luminous moon
sailed o'er the sky last night
on a mystery tour
to-day I had a lot of washing to do
as I'd let it pile up and accrue
there were shirts and sweaters galore
and socks quite literally by the score

it is always a pleasure
to empty one's laundry hamper
as it makes one feel
like a satisfied camper

with it all been done
and up to date
I can sit down
to cogitate
