I touched your face
~ today*
I drew
     the fingers of

     my right hand

         down slowly,

              gently along

             the left side

              of your

            beautiful

           face

I cupped your dainty chin
between thumb and forefinger

I willed with all my energy that

you might feel my touch and hear

my heart whisper your name -

"my darling little bird"

~

and I heard you softly say my name ...

"ant..."

"stay with me ant..."

"don't leave me,  please..."

I heard you say that

~ today

when I touched

your beautiful face

in my favourite photograph of you.
When you can't be together - you try desperately to be "together"

I opened my eyes,

                                               And I saw you there,

                                                     Smiled,

                                             Held my hands,

And carried me in utmost gladness,

We wandered in the seashore,

                      With our nonstop anecdotes,

                                        Your laugh,

Is like a wonderful orchestral euphony,

That always made my day so worth living for,

Then we stopped by and sit,

And observed the beauty of the sunset,

TOGETHER,

                                                                                              Then with atonishment,

                                                                          You gave me yellow flowers,

Which I truly love and adore,

Then I saw your eyes scintillating in gaiety,

When you saw my smiles and teary eyes,

          I can't help but cry,

When you expatiated to me,

               For hours,

About how much you loved me,

                                                                      And cared so dearly,

Then promised to keep all that you've declared,

That we will build future together,

In the presence of our God,

And our future siblings,

I hugged you tight,

             You kissed my forehead,

And whispered love unto my ears,

We act lying together to gaze upon the stars,

But suddenly,

       You slap me hard,

'Cause you said there's mosquito on my cheek,

And was awake!

                                                         I realized,

That I am only dreaming,

In my dream.

The little lights
They effervesce
Caught up in the breath of you
Crisp pinafore dress
And fireflies
I am with you child
At the edge of the world
Where sullen skies ebb
And bare trees
Poise for the blooming spring

Daughter
I long to put my arms around you
Barefoot and tousled
You carry my broken soul
Flickering
If only
I ever

The ash from bonfires
Winks out in sand
Summer evenings
Capricious I danced
Let the waves take me
Ephemeral pleasure
A skipped moment
Gray in the daylight
Shake the shamed from tattered blankets
And sneak back home

I will never cradle
Your tiny frame
Feel the thrum of your heart
Like moths against a window
The echo of a breath
I love you, mommy
Sad mantras now
This consequence
Surrender to the silence
Of life ungiven

Daughter
Resurrected only
As a fatal wish
Moments when I see you
Do you wait for me, still?

Yes. This is real. Yes. It is about abortion. Nuff said.
No water tastes sweeter
than that sip in the desert
No touch is finer
than that hand on the shoulder
when encased in loneliness.
No paycheck more abundant
than following employment deprivation.
No buffet more filling
than that first bite in hunger.

No more wondrous serenity
than when the pain
finally goes away
from your mouth
your back
your head
your knees
your gut
your mind.

No idea more stimulating
to a mind so hungry
than a poem which catches
the moment so perfectly.

No love more appreciated
than when awash in self judgement
No praise more received
than when lost in condemnation.

No warmth more soothing
than when lost in the snow.
No light so bright
as that first sunlight
when lost in the demons
of one's night.

No sensation so
pure as an open
heart after numbness descends
Compassion in hatred
A laugh when joyless.

A lover's kiss after betrayal
A loving look after the cold white wall
A loving word after tense stone silence.
No embrace more healing
than when you come home to me.

The receding waters after the tsunami
The stillness after the earthquake.
The peace after the warfare.

The spring flowers after the winter
The coolness of fall after the blistering summer's heat.
The wood stove so warm when the house is so cold.

No bed so content
No home so sweet
after being stuck out on the streets.

Duality Reality
Without our joys no sorrow
Without our sorrows no joy.
