all my life i thought i was trying
i laughed just to keep from crying
looking back, i went down the wrong track

just more memories to dismember

i surrender

all the time that i spent just wasting
was only time i was facing
looking back, at every rock hard fact

only bad things that i remember

i surrender
Getting back to experimenting with syllable counts and consonant sounds, and how they effect the flow of a poem/song. Here, I used 9-8-9-9-4 syllable count.

I wrote our initials in the sand
surrounded by a large heart
on a late summer afternoon
as the sun was setting,
then dove into a twilight ocean
waiting for the tide to come in
so that I could drown again
*deep within the love of us
Good night beautiful
I traversed the solar
plexus of your lies
abseiled the craggy mid-drift
of long forgotten repentance
passing through your belly button
of hidden desires
and emerged
smelling of not-roses
from the crevice of your denials.
My surveyors report summarised thus -
(You're) **rotten through and through...
travelling trolls

I was having a dream…

you were lying next to me
soundly asleep
in our soft bed,
satin sheets
and goose down pillows
as the sun began to rise
painting our room in shades
of apricot and tangerine

I was holding you
gently in my arms,
feeling your heart beat,
mesmerized by rhythmic breaths,
gazing upon your enchanting face
as dawn’s blushing glow
illumined your beauty,
falling in love all over again

When you slowly woke,
opening those maple sugar eyes,
finding me watching you
and smiled the most
beautiful smile I had ever seen
as I whispered
“Good morning beautiful”

And I didn’t want it to end
but it did as I awoke,

sensing the morning sunshine
through closed eyelids
and upon opening them
found you staring at me
with that beautiful smile
and when you whispered
“Good morning handsome”

I knew right then and there
my dream would be never-ending
Good morning beautiful

And as night descends…
eclipsing faintly glowing heavens,
fading salmon swirls
into indigo memories,
sprinkling diamond-like clusters
in constellation patterns,
inviting a chrysanthemum moon
to bloom amid comets pirouetting
upon a milky way dance floor…
I dream of you, for you are
the brightest star ever to grace
*the evening sky of my heart
Good night beautiful
