May 2014
in the wee small hours
down in the southern hemisphere
a woman couldn't sleep
so she turned up here

she didn't have a poem written
so this one is ad-lib
yet she'd so like to be
snoozing in her adult crib

I've just had a quick look
out of my lounge room window
and the street light
is shining as a glowing minnow

everything is so quiet
there's not a murmur around
the only thing I can hear
is the clock's ticking sound

the roosters haven't
started crowing yet
but within another hour
they'll be getting set

I hope I haven't
intruded on any of you
by writing a poem
out of the blue
