The Shore Kiss
I saw the black smoke
roll in from the burning ship,
it hung along the coast,
where I kissed your lips
& you spoke not,
‘cause you had nothing to say.
I watched the lone tear
make its way to
the tip of your mouth,
saw your tongue lick it off
& you were gone
with the dark mist
lifting.
