In the early 1960s

When I was lonely
           she played with me
When I was hungry
           she fed me
When I couldn't sleep
           she stayed by my side
When I was sick
           she cried
When I was crawling
           she held my hand
           finally
When I went to school
           she saw me off
When I got married
she spent a month in the ICU without rest
Yet I visited her only once
Her love, which I cannot recall
lost in memory like her name

Even now
sixty years later, when I think of her
tears of Gratitude
come alone.
