In my car -
you told me you loved me.
I pulled the words from your tongue;
couldn’t help myself.
I desired to hear them.
Forgive me,
I was young and eager to love.

December was sweet to us;
the snow storm felt like summer sun.
Seasons have gone by since then.
We couldn‘t stop the world from turning,
not even when you told me
your deepest secrets.

My heart has been broken ever since.
August couldn’t save us from crying.

Leaves change their color,
but I always remember
the very first time
you said you loved me.
