when was just a kid my dad bought a dog for me
bought it for my birthday i was only three
i called him bobby i named after dad
he became my friend best ive ever had

he loved it in the meadow he just love to play
chasing after rabbits as they runaway
i would throw his ball he would bring back to me
he love to be outdoor running wild and free

then there was a tragedyΒ Β took bobbies life away
he was fighting with a wolf protecting me that day
bobby lost his battle i lost my best friend
and to doggy heaven each night a prayer i send

when christmas around i always shed a tear
i look up to heaven wishing he was here
we will meet again to bobby i will fly
to be him again in heaven in the sky
