some mornings i wake
and turn to the sky
i plead to the universe
and ask aloud, why
despite all the things
that you've done to me
why do you still
get to be so happy

i'm a gentle soul
i wouldn't hurt a fly
but what about a meteor
cutting through the sky
with a trajectory
that's in my favor
crashing down
turning you into vapor

perhaps an amazon rain forest tour
all-expense paid trip
you get stung by bees
off a cliff, you slip
into a river of snakes
piranhas and crocs
if you survive all of that
waterfall, jagged rocks

a hot air balloon ride
something goes awry
your balloon keeps ascending
into the sky
despite dropping temps prove
no threat to the heart in your chest
oxygen runs thin
you choke more and more on each breath
