Hands intertwined
Lips touching
Eyes caressing
Two dreams like one mind

Wasn't that us?
How can you say it was never so?
It leaves my heart with gaping hole
All our memories thrown under a bus

Was it I who callously chucked it away?
The soft ways you tried to express
The hurt I forced you to suppress?
I left when you pleaded, please stay

I'm sorry, I did not know the way
And so, our souls slipped astray
Our feelings abandoned, both ways
Neither of us were ok

Hands rough without heart's safety
Lips silent without ear's connection
Eyes hollow without soul's empathy
Dreams empty without trust's vulnerability

Grounding chaos with each breathe
Inviting curiosity with each word
Sharing connection with each gaze
Providing safety for each hurt

The loneliness melts like winters' snow
The fear backs away as courage grows
The despair illuminated by apex awesome
The memories return like spring's blossom
