Like This, Forever
I will love you like the baby loves his bottle,
Like the hair loves the breeze,
Like the ******* loves a throttle,
Like the dust loves a sneeze.
I will love you like the twigs love the fire,
Like the lightbulb loves the switch,
Like the poem loves a liar,
Like the cloth loves the stitch.
I will love you like the surgeon loves blood,
Like the artist loves paint,
Like the Ark loved the flood,
Like the prosecutor his plaint.
I will love you like the calendar loves tomorrow,
Like the clock loves time,
Like a cemetery loves sorrow,
Like the wind loves the chime.
I will love you like the Big loves the Bang,
Like the saint loves his silence,
Like the arrow loves the twang,
Like the period loves the sentence.
I will love you like Death loves to take,
Like the lips love words unspoken,
Like the trust that loves to shake,
Like the heart loves to be broken.
I will love you like this, forever.
