I remember what it felt like
to run out of air
Underwater
at that fragile moment—
when the body gives up
before the soul does

And then a hand—
unexpected—
pulling you back
back to breath
back to being

The other night
it happened to me

The current took me
not gently—
it dragged me
to the edge of the waterfall
where the rocks wait
like quiet teeth

I was tired
tired of trying to hold on
so I just didn’t

I let go
and in that surrender
I felt you
I felt what you must have felt

Then—
a hand
out of nowhere
pulling me from the dark
back to myself

Now I understand
now I know the color purple better
now I know
it's not about drowning
it's about a hand
that got in the way
it's about not looking at water
the same way anymore
and  how I love you
even more now
