Winter chill, the weather is cold
I'm bundled up warm against its hold
scarf all about
collar up and so is the hood.

But what of the trees who stand so tall
there for us full of blooming until fall

How do they feel with their leaves stripped bare
Do they feel the cold? Do they even care?

And what of the birds, their nests now exposed
New shelter do they seek to hide from the cold?

But yet they still sing to our human delight
But what are they saying are they having a fight?

And the sky up above, bluer it seems;
than on a day, in summer or spring

The air sharp as it enters my lungs
but I know I'm alive when my chest it has stung

Clean and fresh as it pinches my face
But, it's a welcome break from my cluttered desk

The first day of snow is such a surprise
Even for those watching people go by

This world fights itself yet there is beauty I see
In all of the nature surrounding me.
