We all start out on a path
Of one way, no looking back
You can have it all in all you have
Me, I'll take mine

Soon enough you see, you need to watch your speed
Not all in life is all that easy
You have a choice to stay or leave
At the Detour Sign

You know you know the way to take
So why all of the mistakes
In choosing of the path, you make
More often wrong than right

But all along, wrong looks so much fun
And before this day is cooked and done
It's bound my friend to eat your lunch
At the Detour Sign

If you'll keep said path straight ahead
Not one iota or turn of the head
To the right or to the left
Then you will be fine

But that's not the way it's made to work
When lessons need to be learned
And them, we learn until it hurts
At the Detour Sign
