May 6
She drinks black coffee.
Even though she hates it,
As she puts the mug to her lips.
First sip.
Intense.
Not comforting one bit,
The taste bold unforgiving metallic like no sweetness,
The bitterness is harsh, lingering on the tongue.
The heat is intense, almost burning.
Eyes water, lips pucker,
Almost spitting the coffee out.
Struggling to get it down
She takes another sip,
And another
Until…
the mug that once held the coffee
Was gone.
