You could have walked with me
into a many splendored field
of unspoken dreams
had I not been frightened,
the utterly powerless feeling -
a captive of love,
anything, everything,
could you have in a breath

The daily compromises,
an endless prostitution,
no longer could I stand upright,
In your absence, dignity would be restored.
