Price tag
It was not worth the price,
to throw the phrase
so it pleases me to say
no one is just that unified.
we aren’t tied
by family pride,
screaming, crying, slamming doors
for all the love that is mostly just unrequited for.
cause what does it mean to stick through thick and thin?
it gets tiring
that no audience is there to see,
the lovely show
isolated in a wedge
just when all our hellos were just at arms reach.
the eager conversations
confined in a space of our own
To the strangers, we’ve become
to feel the warmth just bubbling beneath
realising your short joy held no value
with the people you’ve kept close
while humming in the flowered fields
the price we paid that got our way was just too big
so don’t say
it was all worth it.
(Now read it backwards)
