breathe
in the salty air
the spray of the ocean
wetting your hair

the crash of the waves
like a lion's roar
the azure horizon
stretching beyond the shore

the wet cool sand between
your toes
the gulls circling
above your nose

the serenity of a breeze
tingling your spine
the glow of the golden sunshine
pearly cockles in marmalade

I’d trade everything for a day
as this
the foam of the sea
lapping my lips
like a sweet beer kiss
