The cradle is truly submerged
The cradle is truly submerged
but the cot lingers there
in a haze of prison-like bars,
painted faintly blue -
mother and child sharing intimately
darkening dusks
as shadowy phantoms dance
and flit on the ceiling and walls
around an open-hearth fire.
