Dec 2020
Like a fish out of water
Bread jelly side down
The year full of torture
Suffering profound

It started like normal
The New Year rang in
The night less then formal
Let the good times begin

We heard of a ‘virus’
So far away
Could it come all these miles?
No, there’s no way!

Yet, there were rumblings
That this awful disease
Was already among us
It was, March 16

The shut down came quickly
The life we all knew
Leadership shifty
Life now askew

What just happened?
I said to myself
Life fell off the deep end
Anyone else?

We’re now end December
The vaccines are here
I can’t even remember
Breathing fresh air

Masks everyday
Hand washing galore
No life on Broadway
A prisoner of war

No, it’s not over
Not even close
A year long hangover
Still stuck in the throes
