A sovereign head of state
usually a king or queen

but you could probably get away
with saying

potentate

through the grimy
plastic blinds is Franklin Avenue

Hollywood
and it's raining buckets

this is the era in Los Angeles

where the air is dingy
with smog

it's like living
and dancing on the head
of a cigarette

so a dreary wet slimy
day is embraced

with outstretched
arms or

should I say wings
