knowing

I don't have to understand
the poem I

just have to connect with something
about it

whether I'm enchanted by
the imagery

or entranced by the
rhythm

the most effective poems
are those

that charm something
universal from my

earthen jar of a heart
that pulls

the rest of me
upward
