You can't quell a rage in two minutes
any more than you could use an ice cube
on a fire. You careless tossed a lit cigarette
out the door. It smoldered as you went

in. But then something old got caught
on it. And it started flaming. Something that
was sitting around for years. Something
that we shelved. Something we thought

we neatly tucked away, until the day
it fell out. Now it is spread fast as the
coronavirus. And besides this I know we
can't serve it justice.
