i saw you in my dream catching butterflies
as they were flying round you.  beneath a sunshine sky
all the many colors reminded me of you
you put color in my life when our love was new.

as you tried to catch them they just flew away
just like you with me.  you didnt want to stay
like a butterfy you wanted to be free
you just spread your wings and flew away from me

this is what i dream of each and every night
catching all the butterflies while there still in flight
but they fly away as you flew away from me
just like the butterflies you wanted to be free

now when i see a butterfly my dream comes back to me
along with all the thoughts in my memory
as i try to catch them they just fly away
just like you did with me they didnt want to stay.
