Mako the Magnificent was a loser;
a ventriloquist without an act; he'd
pawned everything owned, having
only his voice. But, snatching a kid
at the mall, Mako convinced him
to go along with a impromptu show
& leaping on Mako's lap the boy
lit up & amused the crowd with
his crude inappropriate wit. Dollars
rained into the hat & once the crowd
thinned, Mako forced the docile boy
into the miniature steamer trunk.
Mako later gave the boy half the take.
"Too bad we can't keep this up,"
said the happy performer. It was
then the boy felt his first grown-up
urges, & looking at Mako with teary
eyes, said, "Why not?"
Realizing the kid was a budding
****, Mako begged off to the
pawn broker to get his dummy back.
