Holding Back Self
Each time I come here to this place
To face this world again
A hush falls across my own
And darkness it sets in
I have left all my peace of mind
Everything I've ever known
To be here in a place
Where I know I don't belong
What began as just a test of me
A life lesson to be learned
Some humility to bestow
My spirit now it burns
Some kind of prisoner I've become
Held by unseen chains
With all means to escape
Calling out my name
Will I heed this call I hear
And throw open freedom's gate
Run for all I'm worth
Or wait 'til it's too late
