honestly,      I really shouldn't
be flirting w/ the 21-year-old
checkout girl,       but Valerie;
         cute & smart is Spanish,
        I know not from whence;
but I'm dying to ask  [will I],
how, growing up in America,
she still have a thick Spanish
accent;   as a troubled child I
was forced to spend two weeks
w/   relatives in
       Florida & came back w/ a
southern accent long since gone,
superficial as it was; house fan
blades spin so fast as
to seem invisible,
chopping like unseen
guillotines seen right
through in murderous
actions at a distance -
so even though she's long
  away from there, Valerie
               is where she was
raised; her accent an echo
of the place,  just as every word
I speak is poetic           b/c I was
raised in secret private libraries;
I check my pantry for some
useless thing to replace just
as an excuse to go see Valerie
