I stood on the train tracks checking the horizon
The start of a new day would soon be arising
I squinted and frowned to harken the sun
The day was beginning but was already done

Staring at the ground I caught sight of my boots
Amidst the pebbles and the overgrown roots
My shoes were worn but didn’t look out of place
The glint from the rails reflected off my face

Every day I wait for the train to arrive
Is this a dream?  Am I dead or alive?
An eternity I pondered without any haste
Maybe I’m destined to never leave this place

The sun starts setting and I look to the sky
Another day approaches filled with a lie
The light and the dark filled with a riddle
What of the grey that inhabits the middle?

The next day I stood in the same position
As twilight approached I beheld a vision
A light was approaching with a rumbling sound
Shaking the earth and upsetting the ground

My heart was skipping at a resounding beat
I felt the existence of what I seek
Closer and nearer I felt the thunder
Here it came behold its wonder!

I watch as it passed and never slowed down
My shoulders were slumped as I look to the ground
Was it ever real or just a fleeting thought?
Love is something that should never be sought

Love is a betrayal that I have undoubtedly felt
As this emotion is based simply on wealth
It only exist in the realm of a dream
Where a train doesn’t pass you with a full head of steam
