I was in the student center one day
I was watching a game
And it became vital to me over time
In fact, It became more than important
It was revelation.
But this was not found in a book.
I could watch it on T.V
Knights with helmets battling on a field.
Some of my friends became those knights
And fought on the high school level.
It was different playing it in the inner-city
Where one person would throw up a ball
And we would all try to catch it.
Dodging cars and houses and the road.
I tried to be one of those knights
But I was more suited to watching
Than taking up arms.
Because I could not catch the bullet from certain arms.
They said I should stick to shooting
Basketballs, that is.
Then I was introduced to the Super Bowl
And it drew me in.
I did not think any bowl could be so amazing
I am not a dog
But this bowl is always filled with treats
So I kept coming back year after year.
And the college bowls as well
Now I had more bowls than mouths
But I was not complaining
So when I was able to set up my own Super Bowl tradition
And this is tradition
A national holiday as game
It was a fulfillment of a youthful passion.
