Self-crucified am I
saw a red flower fall and bloom,
one rose in an abandoned road
unfurling its petals before noon.
I made myself a modern martyr
sacrificed purely for the god of me;
hanging from a bleeding tree
singing psalms of redemption
that no one else ever heard.
