Jan 2016
The leaves are falling falling falling
forming excited vermilion gatherings
about the floor of the forest.
The Mighty trees stand
stripped naked in lonely sadness
I tell them don’t be sad
for in the springtime
they will have an abundance
of beautiful new leaves.
But the autumn rain
falls from their branches
like sobbing tears.
They tell me they are mourning
for the beautiful colors they just lost.
and renewal brings no comfort
