In utter darkness, I stand as a lone candle. Surrounded by endless night, I struggle to shine out. My efforts are eclipsed by so much suffering, that I often wonder if I can be seen at all. Then when I think I cannot make a difference, I see another like me. They are shining through the night of despair, reaching out to those in need. I press harder and shine just  a little bit more, until the light cuts through the darkness and joins with theirs. It is then I see more candles in the darkness, each shining a tiny bit of light. When I realize that we are all joined and are poking holes in the veil of night. I see a tapestry of stars giving hope and guidance, to a world so desperately in need.
