I saw you smile, and it towered over the trees, and it pressed down on me in my sleep while I dream of various things like you and me, birds and the sea, and how much it hurts to be awake. but I saw you smile and then it was night, and half the world was fake light. I couldn't remember what it was like to see without fingers on my eyes, without fingers on my mouth, and my own hands on my knees. then I saw you smile but the noise of the brass and the river of glass kept me inside so I sang you a song and I cried when I lost the last note, and all i remember now is the crying. and when i see you smile i think that one day i will wake up alone and how i could save myself from this pain if i really wanted to but then i see you smile.
