We the people We gather At mosques, temples, and the church's steeple For things we want, or rather Things we believe benefit one another.
We the people We shy smiles to one another throw To seek signs of affection But the bonds between us only show When there is an internet connection.
We the people We look to a history book To prevent repeating a mistake. Now criminals can be let off the hook Without being burned at the stake.
We the people We are curious by nature And so devised a clever system for a clever nation. A system in which twenty years of cramming information Will determine your social stature.
We the people We migrated To a New World of hope. And promptly celebrated By leveling the land until it had no ***** And killing its people by strangling them with rope.
We the people Fourscore and seven years ago Met another people with skin so dark And once we had no work for them, they knew not where to go, So we gave them different schools and parks.
We the people We fought brutally against each other two times thus far. And now at the church's steeple We pray for loved ones lost. So will we the people diminish fast Until none of us are left to war.
But that is the future, The present is now. We the people can save ourselves. The question is...how?
