My thoughts were loud
But I was not
The pressure was too great
And I was collapsing
Under the weight of the world.

I tried to stay afloat
But how do you accomplish such a task
When your lungs are filled with sighs and apologies
And your body a sheet of paper
Your head the paperweight.

I felt so empty
Only filled with broken promises, goodbyes, and sleepless nights
Functioning on lost causes and false hope
Praying to a greater being
Asking for the happiness I longed to feel.
