one llucy
words will never be enough
no matter what you say
words can't ever change my mind
or have my opinion sway
words won't alter how I feel
words cannot help or hide
the truth that we have always known
the truth that's been inside
that words will NEVER be enough
because words are full of lies
words can't hold my face or hands
or look me in the eyes
but then again you can't do that
you were too afraid
of all the silly words you said
and the promises you made
at first your words were enough
I thought that you were true
I believed you even when,
you said, "I love you"
so now, words will never be enough
because your words were fake
if you think your words will save you now
that is a mistake.

Running and running,
through fresh cut grass,
He could hardly breath, just gasp
Feeling the deep crescendo of his heart
Not knowing where to go,
Searching for something,
A new start.
Frantically looking behind him,
Through tear stained eyes,
And what could he see?
The ghost of a man
A man he never wanted to be,
Although just a figment of his imagination,
It was as real as the ground beneath him,
He needed an out,
He needed to be free,
Far from that man he would not let himself be.
Written very shortly after reading the short story "Feathers" by Raymond Carver :)

How dare the robins sing,
When men and women hear
Who since they went to their account
Have settled with the year!—
Paid all that life had earned
In one consummate bill,
And now, what life or death can do
Is immaterial.
Insulting is the sun
To him whose mortal light
Beguiled of immortality
Bequeaths him to the night.
Extinct be every hum
In deference to him
Whose garden wrestles with the dew,
At daybreak overcome!

The sun pursues my agony,
Chained beside the cocoa tree,
If I could fly
I'd chase that eye,
To see how high it rests.

Beneath their glaring steel,
My masters laugh in shallow breaths.
Sans distress,
They grow weak,
Always weary,
Their children cannot stop losing blood.

I imagine what it's like on the other side.
Their taunts supply my mind with amazing dreams.
Ambitions grand and humble ripen.
One chain is all that keeps the world from me.

My life rockets!
A howling promise!
I am glad of my work.
It is this certainty I cannot stand.
