Tom McCone
in gentle circles, a single
blade amidst the field inside
slowly ascends: twists salt
earth, a mutable red-black
tree, an unbalanced myself.

a place we swayed trickles
back. i set foot, with
wish to waste enough
time to forget ever
opening towards the
light spilling out behind
your eyes.

misery sinks my teeth
into her arm, slows and
grasps
cohort as i take
shelter. as i find
metric in my own chest.
as i **** up, grow tired,
stop. watch shadows on
the ceiling. i could float
away. i could float away.
i could float away. i could
float away.

if only i wanted to.
forgetting nothing

If I could have your lips pressed to mine like flowers
Pressed flowers
Pink and silky
Thick and silly
Sweet and milky
Pressed lips
And pressed flowers
He loves me
He loves me not

My eyes have been deafened
At the sight of ****** ears
Floating hopelessly and tender
Through the sheared, speared, years
So spare me now for my contempt
And inability to connect
My heads gone and gone unkempt
Now I can't even tell you my best bet

We got so caught up in antics
We forgot time for romantics
So caught up in tomorrow's jig
We forgot how the stars got so big.

So why don't we burn away the stress
and re-teach our hearts to fluoresce
With the friction of a constant embrace
I'll inhale your exhale, we can survive in space

We sat upon the swings until the night could take us home
And travelled in the dark without a single doubt to know
Rejecting every mask that fear could use our face to wear
I looked into your eyes to see that I was in your care
That I could even share with you the moments that I have
Creates in me a gratitude for everything I'd lacked
Perhaps we'll never be again the way that we once were
But what was then and what is now has made us ever sure
That faith inside a moment has a power we can feel
It challenges our hearts to seek the only thing that's *real
