The Scattered Tears
Noah Ducane May 2015
Hopeless sight of the emerald piers
My hazard mind and scattered tears
******* desires forget my strength
Fearing death and life at length
I know little but what I know
Will carry on and forever grow
I've sold my soul and mortal being
To say "yes" without agreeing
I see boats on the horizon sink
And people cower in fear to think
I've seen books burn in great bonfires
And evil men the devil admires
But I'd like to build a Jerusalem with pillars of gold
A place to sin and never grow old
I want more by the day
The impossible, trite, and things I cannot say
Yet I lack for nothing now
Having killed the sacred cow
And finally to stand on the world's end
Crimes behind I cannot amend
And still with tears in my eye
Breathe not a word and quickly die
Hopeless the sight of the emerald piers
My hazard mind and scattered tears

note

sadness shows
It comes and goes
And sadness grows
Despite the smile
Or frown for awhile
Behind all our lies
Sadness lurks in smiling eyes

Would it Be Easy
Noah Ducane Apr 2015
If I could tell you?
I promise not to lie
By and by, I do get by
With you safe somewhere in my mind

Wrapped like a gift waiting for no one
Still, I could tell you many things

Would it be easy not to circle you
With kindness
Sweetness every time
And put myself in your hand
Or let you wear me like a jewel

I'll keep it up
By saying nothing
You'll have a kiss
For every word

Best Not to Offer Answers
Noah Ducane Apr 2015
They sneak away in plain sight
And leave with an empty stomach
Only wanting more

Best not to offer answers
When you must know
How many angels may dance on the head of a pin
There are no angels
But the answer is seven

Best not to offer answers
When death is made of dust
And no soul like a phoenix
Rises from those ashes

Best not to offer answers
But enjoy your time alive
That seemed but a moment
When you have moments left to breathe

Babylon
Noah Ducane Mar 2015
In Babylon she cries in red
In Babylon her stains of blood
And wine falls from fountains for us
In Babylon the streets are red

And Babylon she screams for more
Outside every shelter's door
And Babylon lifts her thighs
To the hot air and incense skies

Juvenile faces mixed in mud
How sweet our sorrows go
And Babylon today has wept
Tomorrow is on her feet again

And mark well, the faces in the street
The priest in passersby
And be gracious to everyone you meet
And we will love before we die

Lions are majestic
Or, I was told so
Once they were majestic
Rampant beasts in far-flung savannas
Mythic lords of the dark continent

I didn't hear the lion roar, not even once
Everyone was disappointed
Even our pet cat wasn't so lazy

What a joke the lion is!
Sleepy from doing nothing
Growing fat behind it's bars

A million fingers pointing at it
Waiting for the lion's pride
They all laugh, and the lion waits for dinner

Pan
Noah Ducane Mar 2015
Pan
In the dense, dark wood Pan is heard,

From the gravity of the darkness Pan runs naked.

Pan with his laughing mouth caught fire and drew the sun down from the sky

Pan had a hungry heart and ran with killers

Pan sounded his pipes through the dark wood

He called forth the whine of evil from the desperate earth

And wine suckled from the stillborn sea

Pan ran naked and Pan ran free

In the dense, dark wood Pan is heard

And now you can hear the trees tumble and the dark wood burn

What Happens
Noah Ducane Mar 2015
Hey!

Do what's forbidden.
Who cares if you get caught?

You can laugh it off
(Satan laughs)

You can cry it off
(it takes strength to cry)

You can even smoke it off.
And who cares if they don't like you smoking?
*******, I say.

Don't hurt,
Don't get hurt,
Wouldn't have it any other way.

The Tree
Noah Ducane Mar 2015
The tree with a hundred years goes
Fires, wreckage, wind and snows
And bears so well it can't be heard
Not by men, beast or bird

The tree gives as a giver should
It's beauty among us and faithful wood
And the tree, silent to our woes
Stands tall when after all else goes

And the tree with patience practiced as an art
Lives better than us without a heart

Bread and Circuses
Noah Ducane Mar 2015
I wanna be your doll                                                                                                                                               You're alone                                                                                                                                                             We can be alone together

dead as the space between time I'm singing for my true love's kisses

they fill the air and sky

and only when I'm sleeping they come back

but they keep me angry

and I hear  no good sounds

but the trumpet calling out for my head

my body hung in a dead field

shunned even by the sinking sun

and thin black crows

I can't get back awake

I am insipid and my bones rust in the frigid wind

I yawn and midnight smiles for me

I feel the pressure of countless aeons

my death eclipsed by countless aeons

the weight of endless years

after my love slipped from my dying hands

Now I cry for no one

but howl back at myself

enraged at myself

for my feelings

left behind

a trail of blood

writing on the wall

that will not see the light of day

and scythes stuck in my whimpering chest

The Nagging Sleep
Noah Ducane Mar 2015
The nagging sleep claws into pink flesh begging it's death-like manner into a call to action

Biting cold with the death dream, fickle imagination setting fire to decency

And the little dreams dance about in your head, mad children lurking, orphaned-

Then the rattling of the rafters with the years behind,
Their black mess still lingering-
Feeding off the disease cast aside

Poor dream,
The ugly nightscape has been sobered up
The pangs were left in poverty

No I do not need your fetishes..
And the parasites flee

Love for Rent
Noah Ducane Mar 2015
I could remember the song of your voice
Kisses held in the sun
And all that you signify
But not by choice
That's all undone
A glimmer in a stranger's eye

I belong now to no one
And no one belongs to me
But knowing now it's no salvation
To spend life truly free

You were love at last
Last love's first sight
Love belongs only to our past
Sundown before the night

It came and went
It was love for rent
The grass still green, the sky still blue
And in the end
I was just a friend
Someone you never knew
