beginning and ending
so surreal
such self deception

Once the love emotion has been spent
escape to a new life
the long road to nowhere
just begun
all over again

words making up a sentence
can propel you light years
six times the speed of light

washed up on a beach bereft of poetry
a heart can seem to wither
and then break on the smallest wave.

wave of hello or goodbye
triumph of life over death
a small emotional volcano.

The sky is full of black wings
spitting fire at will

This Dragon temper
holds all at bay

Cowered and cowering
under flimsy shelter

One day that Dragon
will be here to stay

let me forevermore suckle
a tiny child
the universal breast of motherhood

feed on natures nurture
a full belly
sated with milk and honey.

the street is cold cracked and empty
wind whips through
only guess work lived here
all else packed up and left
long long ago

the day sits hiding in a sea-mist of fresh-
fresh mystery and magic sounds of bird-
song silent with notes from another world
far away eagles spread wings of golden sun
charged with protecting the future of gods-
gods of harvest and reap and sow and peaceful
marriage of man earth water and sky while all
the children suckle from the breast of woman

The vibrating ear drum
gave birth to music

The wiggling tongue
loves hearsay

The eyes forever watch
judge, jury, executioner

Goose bumps and shivers
the postie looking for a signature
parcels and cards
fairy lights and snowmen
turkey with all the trimmings
mulled wine and carols
and the birth of a child;
The Prince of Peace born in a stable
the greatest Birthday Party of all.

today is a picture postcard
by the sea
but this is no Caribbean island
Sunbathed island yes
no coconut trees
willow and sycamore
no sunbathers on the beaches
but beaches all the same
today is as good as it gets

no endings really exist
only perpetual now

infused with different depths
there for the finding

enlightenment a torch
burning brightly

handed freely
to the seeker.

the shift happened
at a time I am not aware
a change became a living flame
part of the fabric called consciousness

Magnus sat in the ship
reciting psalms
arrows flying about
Magnus shipmates
thought Magnus
mad
Magnus stated he had no quarrel
And years later on the Orkneys

We meet in the back row of a dark Cinema
Eating popcorn and discussing some future

tossed a pebble into the stillness of a pond;

blown to bits yes bits if they were lucky
jumped screaming over the trenches
of mud and wooden defences
against machine guns and mortars
and devils who used to be men

Nestles deep in histories joke when it comes
right down to it we are all pirates wielding rights
and saying nothing when it comes to someone else's truth

Summer has decided to stay around today
she has been such a fickle lover of late
she may be going through a kind of menopause
- the male kind

Loved beyond calculating
that's what you are
Perfection is how you are viewed
and perfection your destiny

this loving will always fall short
seemingly impotent

but in the deep recesses of the heart
it burns forever

alive and well
it will conquer all else

and this limited view
will fall away

Lost on some horizon
juggling the everyday
I found a path, a road
winding to the distance
the separation of heart
and mind coming together
with each footstep I made.

she is in love

lizard warm

in the Sun

our Sun is high
a northern view

atop the spinning World
short nights

pictures emblazoned from mind to tee-shirt
ripped through love and sweat
our skin flakes a witness to our touch
I loved you then and there, naked ******* and curved hips
we fell deep into a drug induced coma for a full ten years
my angled frame nestled within your dream
and my dream welded with yours we sailed the sky
making love with the air we breathed into each others mind
we took another tab and flew away from all the ******* we ever made
and never came back but we said goodbye there, finally, for the last time.

Full camouflaged and beret headed
troop of marching schoolboys
passed by the window
Led by men
who should by now
know
so much better

Isolation can be a choice
to go see
if anyone else
lives there.

On safari to the heart
of everything
communing with ancestral
stars being born.

finding a crowded space
the all in all
of love arriving
with the arrival of yourself.

Desperado on bended knees
clutching straw prayers
and posy of flowers
wilting

motherly affection

Victorian mourning
seeped deep into
todays living;
False conforming
to cruel non-values.
The silent suffering
of so many children
so many stolen voices

chemical language
electric thought
neon lights
taste of tongue
skin touch
muscle memory
falling in love.

the gums of the unforgiving black peat
slowly ****** my corpse deep into its belly
where I lay with my eyes closed by order
slowly digested into the surrounding hillside
where rabbits scratched a living out the bog-
grass, which grew richer around my decomposing
body, thrown garrotted and stabbed to death-
a sacrificial offering to the bog for an increased harvest

fire red
white hot
volcanic eruption
star burst
lava flow
desert oven
split atom
big bang
explosive temper

late night interpretations
still the seagull sings plaintive;
flies around white as a barn owl
fooling everyone into thinking
He Is The White Ghost Flying

i cant afford a helicopter
or the juice to keep it going
the maintenance would ******* me
and the pilots wages, well just forget it

its a catch the ferry day tomorrow
I go out from my island fortress
into the sea for a forty minute cruise
onto the  main isle which used to be
called "Isle Of Horses" by Vikings
so much poetry was lost by us who
now belong to Scotland when
Norway's tongues left these Isles

I rallied after the weight of winners history was laid upon my mind
re-educated in the light of truth and dare of the underdog-
the peacemakers wearing sandals and bare feet who spoke of love-
sung songs of freedom and the dignity of the common everyday Man

Shards of broken intentions pave the streets
a rolled out carpet red with cuts to the feet
and what of Dorothy down the yellow road
to find a heart true beating courageous love
like the lion roaring just because it can again
once more into the fray of battle to win, win
win one more time before it all comes to end.

while love
shyly waiting

the ones I have to accept
otherwise I could not stand
-when a storm comes knocking
so I tape them to my hands
they are no hindrance to
my aspiration , indeed
in that ironic state I found
